The reputation of the Dalton lab is founded on advanced manufacturing breakthroughs which are then applied in applications that serve the benefit of humanity. We perform basic science on manufacturing techniques, but use the regluatory framework as our guardrails. Rather than seeing the regluatory process as a barrier to translation, we see it as a source of innovation. By taking a holistic and fundamental approach to technology-based research we challenge ourselves to change perceptions of what the future of manufacturing could look like. Our laboratory is turning the innovation cycle upside down by first manufacturing impossible materials, then applying them to meet clinical challenges.
